About All the Tek

I grew mushrooms at home, and every time I looked for a method I landed in the same argument. Straw or sawdust. Still air box or flow hood. Lime or hot water. Each method had people who swore by it and people who swore at it, and nobody had laid them out side by side so a beginner could pick one and start.

This site is that comparison. Each tek gets the same page: what it is, what it suits, the kit, a cost band, how long until the first harvest, what goes wrong and how to avoid it. Facts come from university extension publications, research and farm trial reports, and every one is linked so you can check it.

It sticks to culinary and gourmet species. It does not cover psilocybin mushrooms, wild foraging or identification, or health claims. For the species themselves, see Ohio Gourmet Mushrooms.
